\ ExplorerTips™
ExplorerTips
are popup information windows that appear when you hover over a Power Drawers
menu item. ExplorerTips save you time by displaying details and a content
preview of files, folders and applications before you decide to open, copy or manipulate them. Getting such detailed information without ExplorerTips would be
much more time-consuming and in some cases not possible without actually opening
the file.

Text
and Graphics Preview
Hover over a
text or graphics file in a Power Drawers menu for a popup
preview of the contents of the file. This is a powerful time-saving feature that
lets you determine if you want to open a file just by hovering over it. Text
preview will be displayed for standard text files, source code files and HTML web
files. The graphics preview shows a thumbnail image
and the pixel size of the full
image when you hover over graphics files in a Power Drawers
menu. Graphics preview is available for GIF, JPG, BMP, ICO, EMF and WMF files.
File preview saves a lot of time when looking for images or text files.
File
ExplorerTips
If you hover over a
file in a Power Drawers menu, the ExplorerTip will show the file's type, size,
modification date/time, the name of the application that will open it
and a preview of the file’s contents (for some file types). This detailed
information makes it easier to find the file you want without opening and
closing documents you don't want.
New Windows installations make it even harder to find the right files because
they default to hiding file extensions, but ExplorerTips always make it crystal
clear what sort of file you are hovered over. Even power users don’t know the meaning of every
possible file extension but descriptions such as “Microsoft Word Document”
or “Paintshop Pro Graphics File” are clear to everyone.
The modification date can be shown as an absolute or relative date. Relative dates give you more concise
information (ie. this document was modified ‘3 days ago’ instead of an
absolute date such as ‘4/9/00’).
Application
ExplorerTips
For applications,
ExplorerTips can show the real name of the application, the size of the file,
the version number of the program and the install and/or build date. For some
apps, the overall product name and a detailed description of what the program
does can also be shown. ExplorerTips make it easier to determine
when applications were installed, when the vendor last built it and what the
application does. For example, looking at cmmgr32.exe in Windows Explorer gives
you no idea what it is, what it does, how old it is and how big it is while the
ExplorerTip for cmmgr32.exe in the screenshot shows all this information
concisely.
Folder
ExplorerTips
If you hover over a
folder on a menu, the ExplorerTip will show how much space the folder is
using and other folder stats . Hover over a drive for a popup display of the
drive's free & used space in absolute and percentage terms. See screenshot
for folder and drive ExplorerTip examples.
ExplorerTips truly put information at your fingertips so you can work faster and
easier.
